Engage Visitors For Longer

If you have a blog you will want visitors to your site to remain engaged as long as is possible. There are a number of techniques available which can help keep visitors engaged. In this post I will be discussing internal linking. Internal linking is not just a useful SEO technique it also directs visitors to other relevant posts on your blog.

What is 'You Might also Like'?
This is a very effective widget in terms of internal linking and engaging visitors. In addition it is a great way to prevent old posts being forgotten about. Chances are you have seen this widget on a number of other blogs and have been looking through Bloggers 'Add a Gadget' catalog so you can add this to your site. It is highly unlikely you will find it there. However you will find it at LinkWithin by clicking here.

Benefits of LinkWithin Widget
This widget has a number of benefits:
  • It takes less than 5 minutes to install with easy step by step instructions.
  • You do not need any HTML knowledge.
  • It shows users related posts.
  • If the related post has a image then a thumbnail is also added.
  • Your blog gains increased pageviews.
  • Your blog is more user friendly.
  • Users remain engaged for longer
  • Your old posts are no longer forgotten about as this widget will display them if they are related no matter when they were published.
In addition to linking your posts using the above widget you can also link your posts manually using the link button to keep users engaged. Remember if you choose to link internally you need to ensure that all links are relevant or users may lose trust in the links you provide. Remember you can add the above widget by clicking here.

Popular Posts Gadget

Another effective way to link your posts internally and engage visitors for longer is by installing Bloggers 'Popular Posts' gadget. This is a great way to highlight to your visitors posts that others have read. Again keeping users engaged for longer and increasing page views. This is also an easy widget to install. Just go to the 'Layout' section of your Blogger dashboard, select 'add gadget', scroll down to the 'Popular Posts' gadget and select the '+' icon.
