WordPress is a very user friendly platform with a vast amount of plugins which can be installed and activated at the click of a button. Installing and activating your desired plugin is arguably the easier part of the process. What could be described as more difficult is knowing which plugins will benefit your WordPress blog or website. This post has been developed to outline 4 really useful social WordPress plugins.


Social networking is now a part of many people's daily lives. There are a significant number of people with either a Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn account or several of the above. This means that social plugins are probably an essential part of most blogs and websites. They allow sites to become more interactive and allow posts to be quickly shared.

There are a number of social login plugins available for free. Social Login is my personal favorite as it allows users to register to your site, login and comment on posts. Social Login is also great as it has over 20 social networks available for users to take advantage of. Plugins which allow users to register through a social network is arguably the most essential social plugin. This is due to it being felt they increase the numbers of users registering with your site due to not being put off by lengthy registration forms. Additionally users do not need to worry about having further login information to remember as they simply login via the social network details. This plugin has been downloaded over 211k times.

Social Comments
This is another very good social plugin for WordPress sites. With this social plugin users can interact with your site using Facebook, Google+ and Disqus comments. Social Facebook All In One
This plugin adds a variety of Facebook features to your blog. This plugin allows Facebook registration, Facebook recommendations and Facebook likes. As with other plugins that involve social networks you will need to create a Facebook App (which isn't that difficult). This will provide you with a Facebook App ID and Facebook App Secret.
